PSYCHONAUT formed in 1997 and have played close to 400 shows since. The band has gone through various incarnations and has always been an exciting and electrified live act and have supported bands such as ALARUM, CONTRIVE, FRANKENBOK, SUBTRUCK and DREADNAUGHT.
The music is a melting pot of Thrash, Classic Rock, Power Metal, Black Metal, speed AND doom metal with some Jazz and razor sharp Blues themes woven in.
The lyrical content is based mainly on classic Horror and Sci Fi movie themes.
The current line up:
- MARK DE VATTIMO - guit/voc (ex Voyager) uses a few different voices and vocal techniques in the vein of Slayer meets King Diamond.
- SIMON HALLET - jazz Metal Fusion Bass player (Emerald City)
- SEB GIORGI - The Drummer
- METAL MIKE - A 'student of the Children of Bodom' school of Shred Guitar.
'Masters of Procrastination' is an apt title for the first official PSYCHONAUT album. Eight tracks of menacing guitar work, screeching vocals, rumbling bass and caveman drumming penned by De Vattimo with contributions from Steve Vella. The album was enthusiastically received and the official album launch in January 2004 was a major success.
The album also contains De Vattimo created videos for the tracks STEAMROLLER, CONFUSION? VERTIGO!, as well as live footage for PLANET OF THE APES and ROSEMARY'S BABY.
The 2nd album is now in pre production and will be released thru Prime Cuts later this year
